Defect caught at its station

Appliance SupplierMANUFACTURING · TWO LINES · IN-STATION VISUAL INSPECTION
PROBLEM

Quality control sat at the very end of the line. A defective part kept being worked through four more stations before anyone noticed, and the scrap cost compounded at every one of them.

APPROACH

Dedicated cameras and controlled lighting were installed at two critical stations. The vision model catches the surface and assembly defect classes it was trained on before the part leaves the station; the operator sees the faulty area immediately on the screen in front of them and pulls the part off the line right there.

RESULTS
A defect is caught at the station in under a second.
Two stations run under live inspection; end-of-line checks dropped to sampling.
The part comes off the line instantly; mean time to root-cause intervention is eleven minutes.
