The fridge that opens with a QR

Gate+FOODTECH · APP, DASHBOARD, CMS, CRM
PROBLEM

There was no cashier, no till, no point of sale. Everything from opening the cabinet door to taking the products off the shelf and completing payment had to be solved on a smartphone, with no break anywhere in the experience.

APPROACH

We put the mobile app at the centre of the operation and made a substantial technical leap behind it: we moved off the costly, hardware-heavy RFID setup originally used to work out which product had been taken, and onto a computer-vision stack that recognises products automatically. When the user scans the QR code and opens the door, the cameras identify the item immediately, and payment - membership and meal cards included - completes in a single unbroken flow. Behind all of it we built an operations dashboard, a CMS and a CRM that run the process end to end.

RESULTS
Computer vision removed the RFID tagging operation and its hardware cost entirely; the item is recognised the moment it leaves the shelf.
A QR code opens the cabinet in seconds, and payment completes in one flow with membership and meal cards.
Orders, revenue, returns and stock sit on one screen; campaigns go live from the CMS the same day.
